How common was the 251/22, I am about to start my 2nd SS and was wondering if they had them for the bulge, or would they have used marder 3s or the like in the SP At coys

cheers

I don't have my notes at work but I'm pretty certain there were no /22's issued until 1945 (ie after the Bulge). They were not that common and I've never seen a comprehensive list. I do have some notes at home if you'd like to see them

Cheers

Bob

I doubt they had Marders either (though there were still Marders Operational at the time. Most likely would have been JadgPz-IV I can look this up later

I had a list but lost it when my PC crashed, I'm sure Bob passed it to me, Axis History Forum or similar.

As I recall, the first were issued in late December '44, after the Ardennes.

The very first /22 were used around February/March 45 (Kustrin)

There was a list of the units which received /22 on the Missing-Links forum - I have to search it.

Das Reich didn't have any /22 or Marder III in late 44 or 45, only Pz IV/70.

thanks guys,

I found a vehicle list for the 2nd ss for the Ardennes amoung my reference books Rolling Eyes

so 251/22 would be more suitable for my last days of berlin ad hoc kampfgruppes

cheers
