i think as long as we can list a range contents as i've done above, and then show some bare metal pics (its about the figures, not peoples painting skills) in pack groups we should be fine!

i've got loads of B/Mins so i can post most of what you have mentioned!
Wink

I am getting a load of Firestorm, Last Levy and some Ardennes Germans (cheers Rob), and will take photos when they arrive. And of course, I have Omaha GIs, FJ and some refugee packs.

Neat idea this living catalogue thingy, even though we're making the manufacturers work for them. But as it is, this is priceless information. Good job, whoever thought this one up. Cool

suppose in that case we should ask Stuart to send us the piccs, as I am usually painting my figs, instead of keeping them unpainted in packs Wink - well to be honest, I've got plenty, byt no Battlefields.. Sad

I dont see it the quite the same way Juha. Wink

I believe that by doing these catalogues we are helping to expand the hobby and also show our support for companies and individuals who we think lack exposure.

I dont see this as doing their work for them. While it would be nice for all companies to have pictures of everything, its not always feasible. I would rather the guys spent time sculpting and casting to give us new toys!

I also see it as a great resource for new gamers and people coming into 20mm. But its also relevant to old hands... I know I would buy more if I saw pics... So the idea is to all get together and help each other out.

I think you are right that it could develop into a priceless resource and a great bonus for the forum members. Its good to see people like yourself are keen on the idea and its great that so many of us are able to contribute.

I didn't intend to sound too harsh, but I honestly think the manufacturers are shooting themselves in the leg by not putting pictures in the web. They would increase their sales substantially, if people actually saw how nice the fifgs are. I think this is very basic marketing, and in this day and age it isn't a matter of cost, or even time. All it takes is a day's work to photo and post even a huge range, and the benefits will be worth it. I mean, think about it, a full colour catalogue that's practically free and easily updated!

But I realise there is some resistance against web technology, people are too busy (or think they are), don't know enough about the tech side, and so on. Who knows, maybe business is blooming as it is, and they don't want to make the extra effort?

Sorry, didn't mean to rant, but this is something of a pet peeve for me. Embarassed

But I fully support this living catalogue thingy, and intend to post pics myself.

Not sure I agree with that! It can be an awful lot of work. It would take more than a day to take pics of all the Battlefield range, edit them (provided they were all ok) and then upload them all to the website.

Also not all companies actually manage their own websites... I suspect most get mates to help them out, so it all comes out of their free time.

Lets face it, most of the guys have other jobs, and a few days taking pics may not be a good use of their time and resources.

I now it can be annoying not to see pics... But thats why we have the 'Living Catalogues' and I hope it will take the pressure off these small business' to spend time doing it. At least a Liberation or Battlefield can point enquires to 'The Guild' now.

I'm just a mad wargamer and I do not have pics of all of my figures, and it would take me days of photography for me to get really good shots I am happy with.

They are rightthough nice pics sell figures just like porn in colour or balck and white I guess Twisted Evil
