In the Fall of 1984, Soviet forces invaded North America. 60 Soviet Divisions crossed into Alaska, south through British Columbia and attempted to break out into the Canadian plains. While US war planes and Attack Helicopters inflicted terrible losses on the Soviets through the mountain passes, a Soviet Motor Rifle Division attempted a flanking maneuver through Grand Prairie. In their way stood a small detachment of Canadian tanks and infantry.

Rules: Twilight 2000 Simplified Minitaure Wargame Rules 1.1

Canadian Infantry take up blocking positions around the bridge crossing.

Soviet Units arrive on the table.

First blood, as a Leopard C1 lights up a T-55, infantry dismount.

But the Soviets have a surprise, a crack Spetznaz unit aboard a Mi-24.

The Leopards start taking hits form ATGWs. One is forced to retreat after the main gun is knocked out and 2 crew killed.

Spetznaz land in the Canadian rear and try to assault the bridge.

A BRDM-2 gets taken out by a 105mm Leo round.

Canadians react to the new threat.

The Airborne BMD-2 flanks the Leopard killing all but one crewman.

The Canadian Carl G, and Rifleman open up on the dismounted Spetznaz killing all but one.

The Spetznaz in attacking the bridge also tank terrible casualties from the defenders.

The Mi-24 lifts off again and plasters the defenders with rocket fire. The survivours return fire on the Spetznaz forcing them to surrender. The Mi-24 leaves the table.

Combined fire from the Motorized Infantry and AFVs slaughter the Canadian defenders causing the survivours to retreat.

A brave M113 holds the bridge as retreating infantry make a run for it.

The BMD-2 takes out the M113 guarding the bridge and remaining Soviet Infantry make for the other side.

With over 60% casualites, the Canadians mount up and retire to the next defensive line.

And with that, the Soviets break out into the Northern Praries in an attempt to flank the main Allied line.

This was the first play test of my rule set and a few things came up. One it was very difficult to hit with LAW weapons unless the firer took a turn to aim, the Moral rules need some modifying as there seems to be too many Moral checks plus a few other to hit modifiers for ATGW and things.

I hope you enjoyed the report. Smile

Tim

I really like your pictures and game. Not too big into moderns but you have a great scenario going.

Absolutely outstanding! Inspiring stuff! Well done man. That BMD-2 crew should get a medal! Very Happy

Are you going to do the partisan actions too in the future?

cheers

The Wolverines are on my workbench just waiting for some green stuff. Smile

The BMD-2 survived a Carl Gustav hit (lucky I guess). The Soviet player should have hit the landing zone with rocket fire before he landed the Spetznaz. The poor boys took a s#@t kicking. Laughing

Nice looking game - we see a lot of Moderns being painted but not many games.

This is a good thing IMO. It means that LAWs are an ambush defence weapons and you can't go charging AFVs with them which to my mind is how they are supposed to be used

Whats more they ain't very accurate anyway

Cheers

Bob

Dramatic pictures - the helicopter landing in particular! I like the report in combination with the many pics. Great scenario! Love to see Leopards in action! We had the 1A5 in our barracks...

Bob,

Thanks for the info on LAWs. I was not sure how accurate they were.

Funny thing is, I was reading "Holding Juno" last night and there is an account of a Canadian in ambush, firing a PIAT at a German officer, hitting him square in the chest and turning him into "A spray of gore." Lucky shot I guess. Laughing

Yes they are Liberation civies with AKs and RPGs. A few head swaps such as a spare Spetznaz jump helmet for Danny, Beret for Robert. I hope I can get it done in time.

Thanks again for you kind words.

Tim- It was worth the wait to see these guys in action! What a great AAR!

I think the Hind came in too soon. They should have waited for the Canadian infantry to be engaged to the front before landing the troops on the flank.

More! More!
