This turn might be the beginning of the end for the Germans. Infuriated by the loss of their Sherman, the Americans let loose a deluge of suppressive fire that silenced the German MMG and made life very tough for the German squad on the second floor of the farmhouse. That squad's life wasn't made any easier by the fact that in their eagerness to drop mortar fire on the closest American troops- and they were getting mighty close- half the barrage landed on the farm as well.

The Americans are completing their encirclement of the farm.

The German HQ has a lot to look at, and not many forces left to work with.

One of the US tanks has moved up to take the German MG position under direct fire.

The other tank has moved up to try to put the wind up the skirts of the Germans defending the farm.

Oh, yes, and the American platoon HQ on the hill has re-established contact with their mortars.

I think I'll let the Jerries sweat for another turn or 2 before I bring in their reinforcements. They'll appreciate them more that way.

Coming late to the party, very much enjoying this. Certainly lots of ideas here that are worth noting/stealing/copying. Very curious to see what help comes forward for the Jerries.

Thanks Duane for recommending this board the other day.

I know it's been a while, but we're still going.

The Americans now have a Sherman in position to take the farm under direct fire and it's started to pump 75mm HE into the ground floor.

The German squad in there took 2 more casualties and is now out of the fight.

The Americans have also FINALLY gotten their mortar battery (3x 60mm) into the battle, targeting the German MMG.

This was a devastating barrage that pretty much wiped out the MG team.

The tank that had moved up to take the MG under fire was feeling a little overexposed and pulled back to a hedge.

The turn was not all one sided, however. The German mortar fired off the last of its ammo at the US troops in front of the farm.

The Germans have also shifted a squad of Landsers across the road and they have a nice field of fire on these troops as well.

The Germans are now down to 2 effective and 1 weak squad, however, with all this coming at them:

Geez, when will those reinforcements get here?

So the Americans continue to suppress the hell out of the first farmhouse. The other German squad in there is in very tough shape and close to surrendering.

Beyong the farmhouse, a full American platoon is in a close range firefight with the German squad in the treeline. casualties on both sides, but the Americans can aford them more than the Jerries.

The paratroopers move in for an assault on the house, but they didn't know that the last German squad had worked around to their flank. This was the German view as the assault went in.

They managed to shake off their casualties and charge the house, but they havent quite made it yet and are taking schmeisser fire from the German platoon HQ group in the barn.

It's a bit of a cliffhanger, but that's where the turn ended.

There's no turn limit, I'm just going to let the tactical situation work itself out.

Yes, but both players have been tied up with end of summer craziness. I hope to get the next few turns in over the next couple weeks.

Holy crap, we're back in business!!

The US squad assaulting the farmhouse was just too battered to press the attack. 3 German units (albeit weak ones) caught this unit in a crossfire and sent shellshocked survivors fleeing our the farm gate

On the American left flank, however the advance is proceeding much better. As 3rd platoon pins the German squad to their front, the untouched 1st platoon moves up with one to the Shermans in support.

From the German's point of view, this really sucks

So here's the American position:

And here are the German's:

The big news as far as the Krauts is concerned is that they heard that their relief force will probably arrive in 2 turns.

What will be left?
