Well I'm doing a couple of squads of VDV with their attached BMD1s.

I've completed a few test figures which I'm happy with.....now for the real work to get the rest of the figures plus vehicles done along with everything else I've commited to paint this month Rolling Eyes

Not decided on bases yet so I'll leave those until all the figures are done.

VDV stands for Vozdushno-Desantnye Vojska which is Russian for Air Assault Forces. Also know as the Desantniki (english translation=Paras). They are are the only airborne force in the world that was designed to operate directly with airdropable armored vehicles, such as the BMD described at the beginning of this thread. Unlike other airborne forces, they wear blue berets instead of red. Steve Zaloga (Mr. Soviet) wrote an excellent book on their history "Inside the Blue Berets"

really? I did not know that, (or remember that part). It has been a while since I read Zalaoga's book...time to go get a new copy!

Anyways, Dean your VDV look very nice, and are inspiring me to go and get some 28mm versions for myself.

I'm slowly working my way through preps and painting for a 28mm Lebanon campaign and I have plans for the Russians to intervene at some point to "help" the Syrians out (heh, heh, heh).
