Hi all

This is my small contribution to the group build. Not very happy with the results, but I think it’s ok for a little vignette. Wish I had had more time to put into it.
Comments and critics are welcome.

Great stuff Oniria Shocked

Are they Combats Florian figs? Possibly a conversion? No idea about the horses though.

Hi all

Thank you all for your too generous comments.

Figures and horses are CMK. They have several conversions: Heads as usual (one is surely from the Lamercraft german burial set and the other is an Elhiem but can’t recall the pack) Weapons and most gear are Preiser. The reins of the right hand horse are made with thin plastic sheet. The other horse’s head and neck is from an Italery one.

I have to admit that I didn’t quite enjoy very much this work. The figures are just acceptable for what I like. Horses ain’t t oo bad but they look a little stiff,(besides you get the same pose on both of them in the pack). My first idea was to recreate ACW or Napoleonic stuff, but, unfortunately I didn’t find any figures that I liked. So I stressed myself not finding what I wanted and finally decided to have a go at this set. As I have mentioned before, I think there is a lack of GOOD REALISTIC SCULPTED figures in the 20mm, 1/72 or 1/76. I still find plastic figures too stiff looking and would require lots of conversion work which I haven’t got the skill or the time to perform.

I hope I can do better in my next project. This one has demoralized me a bit.

Saludetes.

BTW: Matt did you notice the similarity of the figure poses with your first picture of your Romans?

yes, I noticed, not much you can do sitting on a horse really Very Happy
Excellent conversion work, I think the horses look great. Note the size difference between modern horses and the ones the Romans had.

Your painting abilities are the most artistic in this forum, I bet! Don´t be down by this project - the models are very good indeed, and anybody can see the amount of work invested here. You are right, that there is some lack in dynamic, but you made it more than good enough to cope with by your painting! This one makes it hard to decide for the voting, as I already had two completely different favourites... Keep your head up and keep the good work! Wink
