Hi Guys,

Im trying to compile a list of vehicles used during the 1965 & 1971 Wars between India and Pakistan.

So far I have a pretty good idea of the tanks, but I could do with some help regarding other equipment issued.

Any help would be gratefully recieved.

My list so far...

Shermans (Pakistan seems to have had 76mm armed ones and India's were more of a mixed bag with some armed with the French CN75 50)
Centurions - Im unsure what mark though... I think it was the MK7?
M47 & M48 Pattons
T-54/55s
Type 59s
PT-76s
M36 Jacksons (It seems the Pakistani forces had a few but not many...)
Chaffees
Stuart light Tanks
AMX-13s

I know the Pakistani's had 106mm recoiless rifles mounted on jeeps, Im guessing the Indians had something similar. Im a bit stuck on artillery... Im guessing 6pdrs and 25pdrs and US 105s? Also what about self-propelled guns? Were any M7 Priests in use?

Also any info regarding APCs would be helpful... I know the Pakistani's had M113s... Just wondering what else was in theatre.

Cheers chaps.

That would seem to be correct Yekke. They had alot of Soviet kit and I was hoping they used them. I think they also had a few other Soviet APCs but Im unsure of what exactly...

I cant help but think someone must have had Bren carriers or M3 half-tracks? Question

India also used T54's upgraded with British 105mm guns .

they were actually quite good , the pakistanis feared these - so the indians converted ( disguised ) other early T54's by welding the early pattern straight 100mm guns with metal tubes ..

Almost certain that the Indian cents in '65 had 20pdr not 105's - need to double check my refs to be absolutely certain

Are you sure that pic is a 105, looks like a 20pdr type B to me?

Cheers

Bob

one reference mentions 'The poona horse' with centurions of lower calibre then the M48 so it could well be the 20pdr Wink
